| Menus you use in ReadPlease are standard Windows menus.
| There are two ways to activate a menu:
| · | click on a menu with your mouse
| · | while holding down the [Alt] key, press the letter you see underlined on the menu. For example to access the File menu, hold down [Alt] and press the F key.
| The sub-menus are explained in detail in the next sections.
| You can use the keyboard to access submenus as well. For example, to exit ReadPlease you could use the keystrokes [Alt] F, then press X. This combination works because the [Alt] F brings up the File menu, and pressing the X key (without the [Alt] this time) selects the Exit menu choice (note the x is underlined) as shown here:

| Some menu options may be accessed directly by pressing the [Ctrl] key and then a letter. For example, [Ctrl]-N will create a new document. Note that these [Ctrl] shortcut keys (or hotkeys) do not require the File submenu to be open. Just press the [Ctrl]- key from anywhere in ReadPlease.
